Living Lab Open Day in Germany 

On 11th July, 2024 ALFAwetlands German Living Lab Open Day had been conducted. It took place in Malchin, Germany at the river Peene Valley. 

Visitors were invited to participate in excursions through the peatland and get more information about wetlands, learnt about ALFAwetlands project and restoration activities in the Upper Peene Valley. Educational input on the subject of peatlands and climate had been offered with the so-called peatland suitcase. In the evening there was a book presentation and a special peatland-themed song evening.

Furthermore, the ALFAwetlands Living Labs Photo Exhibition took place!

Living Lab Open Day program started at 14:00.  

The event was organized by the Michael Succow Foundation as part of the ALFAwetlands project.

The Upper Peene region is one of nine European wetland locations, which are examined as Living Labs in the ALFAwetlands project. The project unites stakeholders from agriculture, nature conservation, municipalities, forestry, administration, education, tourism, politics and science and brings together a wide variety of knowledge and interests.
