On time for the World Wetlands Day, the European Wetland Map is launched!
A new European Wetland Map shows Europe's peatlands, floodplains and coastal wetlands more comprehensively than ever before in one map.
It empowers policymakers, land users and all interested to better understand Europe's precious wetlands. In combining over 200 geodata sources the European Wetland Map represents a significant leap forward. Let’s use this knowledge to develop science-based policies and combat climate change!
This initiative is a collaborative effort with ALFAwetlands, WET HORIZONS, and the Building a European Peatlands Alliance and the Greifswald Mire Centre.
The Eeuropean Wetland Map aligns perfectly with the objectives of World Wetlands Day, which is celebrated annually on February 2nd and is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of wetlands and promoting conservation initiatives.
