The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), an ALFAwetlands partner from Austria, specializes in interdisciplinary research addressing global environmental, economic, and social issues. IIASA leads ALFAwetlands Work Package 4, applying biophysical and land-use models to estimate ecosystem services in wetlands and terrestrial landscapes. Additionally, IIASA contributes to Work Package 5, assessing the socio-economic impacts of wetland restoration across Europe, factoring in future climate challenges.
The IIASA and ALFAwetlands model GLOBIOM, has been part of the suite of models applied for the official impact assessments conducted by the European Commission. |
