ALFAwetlands and REWET Final Conference Press Release

After more than four years of research, the EU-funded ALFAwetlands and REWET projects brought together research, policy and practice at their Joint Final Conference, “Wetland Solutions for the Future,” held on 17 September 2026 in Brussels.

More than 110 in-person and online participants explored the projects’ key scientific findings, practical restoration approaches, tools and policy recommendations to support effective wetland conservation and restoration across Europe.

At a critical moment for implementing the EU Nature Restoration Regulation and strengthening water resilience, the conference highlighted how European research can help translate restoration ambitions into evidence-based action on the ground.
